Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Samika Labs, Inc. ("unu", "we", "us") collects when you use the unu app and this website (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email hello@tryunu.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

Account details. If you create an account we collect your email address, or the identifier Apple provides if you use Sign in with Apple, plus the username, display name and profile photo you choose. You can also use unu as a guest without giving us an email.
Photos for AI try-on. If you choose to try outfits on yourself, you upload one or more photos of yourself ("selfies"). We use them only to generate the images you ask for.
Your activity and content. Items and looks you save, boards you create, creators you follow, looks you generate or publish, and anything you write in them.
Messages. What you send us when you contact us.

Information collected automatically

Usage and device data. Searches, products and looks you view, taps on shop links, app version, device type, operating system, language, approximate location derived from your IP address, and crash and diagnostic data.
Affiliate link data. When you tap a shop link we record that the click happened, the product, and (if applicable) the creator whose look it came from. The link passes an anonymous identifier to the affiliate network so that a resulting sale can be credited. It does not include your name or email.

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.

How we use information

To provide the Service: show your feed, run search, save your boards, generate AI looks, and publish looks you choose to make public.
To personalize what you see, such as recommending pieces and looks based on what you save and view.
To credit sales to creators and pay them their share of commissions.
To keep the Service safe: preventing fraud, abuse and misuse of AI features, and enforcing our Terms.
To understand and improve how the Service performs.
To communicate with you about your account, updates and, if you opt in, news about unu.
To comply with law.

We do not use your selfies to train AI models, and we do not use them for facial recognition or to identify you.

How AI try-on handles your photos

When you generate a look with yourself as the model, your selfie and the product images you picked are sent to our image-generation provider (OpenAI) to create the image. Under our provider's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train its models by default. Your selfies and private looks are stored in private storage that only your account can access. You can delete your selfie or any look at any time in the app, and they are deleted when you delete your account.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as follows:

Service providers that process data for us under contract: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Render (hosting), OpenAI (AI image generation) and Apple (Sign in with Apple and app distribution).
Affiliate networks and retailers, which receive click information when you follow a shop link, along with the anonymous identifier described above. Once you are on a retailer's site, its own privacy policy applies to what you do there.
Other users, who can see your public profile and the looks and boards you choose to make public. Boards are private by default.
Legal and safety reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or needed to protect the rights, property or safety of unu, our users or others.
Business transfers, if unu is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, selfies, looks, boards and saves, usually within 30 days, except where we must keep certain records (for example, commission and payout records) to meet legal or accounting obligations. Guest data that has not been used for 12 months may be deleted.

Your choices and rights

Access and correction. You can see and edit your profile in the app.
Deletion. You can delete your account in the app's settings, or ask us to by emailing hello@tryunu.com.
Photos. You can delete any selfie or generated look at any time.
Marketing. You can opt out of marketing emails with the unsubscribe link in any email.

Depending on where you live (for example California, other US states, the UK or the EU), you may have rights to know what personal information we hold, to get a copy, to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email hello@tryunu.com. We will verify your request using the email address on your account and respond within the time the law requires. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security so that private data is only available to the account it belongs to. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password if you sign in with email.

Children

unu is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

unu is operated from the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States. If you use unu from elsewhere, you understand your information will be transferred there.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
