Mountain dressing is about layers you can take off at lunch and put back on for the walk home. Start with one statement knit, add something leather or shearling over the top, and keep the colors in the cream-to-chocolate family so everything goes with everything.

How to wear it

  • One big knit. A cable or cashmere crewneck in cream or butter yellow does most of the work.
  • A jacket with texture. Washed leather or shearling adds warmth and photographs beautifully against snow.
  • Relaxed denim. Wide-leg jeans tucked into boots, or cuffed over them, keep it from feeling too polished.
  • Warm accessories. Tortoiseshell sunglasses are a must at altitude, and they suit the palette.

Pick the knit and the jacket, then try them in a snowy mountain scene. Swap the jeans for trousers and compare both looks side by side.
